I used to love makeup. I was never as good at it as the incredibly talented artists I see on Instagram, but I like to think I did okay. I still have an appreciation for a good winged liner, but my interest has shifted towards skincare over the past couple of years. Now, I keep it real. Which is a cooler way to say that by the time I’m done arguing with my eight month old puppy every morning about why she can’t eat my favorite Steve Madden Mule for breakfast, I’m in no mood to doll myself up. I have narrowed my makeup routine down to four of my favorite products. The whole thing takes about seven minutes and can easily be applied anywhere, including at my desk before running to a meeting.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, Intensity 1.0
I am pale, and I have freckles. Any foundation that’s too heavy covers them up and makes me feel like I’m wearing a mask, which is not #goals. I also live in Florida and to give you an example.. today it is 91 degrees. Melty makeup is not cute and this is the only foundation I have found that keeps me looking like myself and can go toe-to-toe with Florida’s Sweltering Heat.
Nars The Multiple, Orgasm
If you don’t know it by now, Nars is love. Nars is life. It is the one for me. Don’t tell my boyfriend. This blush is so natural, compliments my pink undertones perfectly, and I can apply it with my fingers, which the lazy girl in me absolutely adores.
Benefit High Beam
I used to have a real problem finding any highlighter that wasn’t my skin tone or darker, so when I started using High Beam about three years ago, it was one of my only choices. I’m happy to see that there are a lot more options out there now, but even after giving countless other highlighters a try, I still think this is one of the best products on the market to give some shine to us pale girls. The nail polish type packaging makes it really easy to control and it gives a serious glow.
Benefit Roller Lash, Black
Confession time: I used to use about five different mascaras at once. I’m not kidding. I used everything I had in my drawer in layers. I thought I looked GOOD. Then I tried Roller Lash and I haven’t layered since. I have actually repurchased this about 10 times. I say I want to try a new mascara every time but then I keep coming back. It makes my eyelashes look incredible, and now that I’m not piling on the product, my already long lashes aren’t breaking off anymore. APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE PEOPLE.
